Computer Scientist/Programmer

Job Description:

The Multimodal Analysis Lab in the Interactive Digital Media Institute (IDMI) at the National University of Singapore has immediate openings for Computer Scientists/Programmers to develop software tools for multimodal analysis and manipulation of multimedia data.  The application software being developed will be similar to an application for editing text, pictures, sound, and video.  The successful applicants will have demonstrated knowledge, abilities and skills required to develop simple intuitive graphical user interfaces for manipulating, annotating, analysing and searching multimedia data.  Applicants must to be able to work in English-speaking interdisciplinary research team to design and develop flexible, extensible object-oriented code.  Applications must address the selection criteria.

 

Requirements/Pre-requisites:

  • The candidate should have a MSc or equivalent in the field of computer
    science or a related area.
  • Experience with C/C++ and scripting programming languages, e.g. Tcl\Tk,Python, Ruby or similar.
  • GUI programming experience and understanding of event-driven programming.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Additionally, a successful applicant should have a commitment to research and strong development expertise.
  • The candidate should possess good communication skills in English, and be willing to work as part of an interdisciplinary research team.

Term of Appointment:

The appointment will commence immediately and will be for one year, with possibility for extension up to two additional years.
